About Barbara Bagan
Program Information
Dr. Bagan creates and conducts holistic, person-centered care programs for individuals of all ages that provide meaningful and pleasurable activities to enhance the quality of life. The program experiences are not simply arts and crafts sessions but groundbreaking therapeutic art interventions based on the latest research. Continuing to research and seek out significant activities to meet the needs of older adults and their caregivers, her goal is to help individuals express themselves, interact socially, and communicate, both verbally and nonverbally. (See Art for Elders for more benefits.)
She designs and implements innovative programs intended for individuals, professionals, paraprofessionals, caregivers, and family members. Therapeutic art interventions can be used with individuals and small groups as well as designed for specific facilities and their particular requirements. Dr. Bagan is available for consultation, contract work, in-services, and on-site trainings as well as individual and focused small group sessions.
Currently Dr. Bagan is conducting a ten week program, Expressive Arts for Parkinson's, she designed specifically for The Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Her book, Expressive Arts for Parkinson's, that is included in her professional training workshops will soon be available for purchase.
Dr. Bagan's abstract proposal, Art & Aging: What's Art Got To Do With It?, was accepted by the American Society of Aging (ASA) and the National Council on Aging (NCOA) for their March, 2008 joint conference in Washington, D.C.
